The story of the first voyage around the world carried out by Magellan and Juan Sebastián de Elcano at the beginning of XVI century.
It is a fascinating book that caught me from the very beginning. The passage through the Strait of Magellan is narrated vibrantly and masterfully.
I have always thought that this voyage around the world was one of humanity's greatest exploits. It is a pity that it has not received the recognition it deserves. Passing through the Strait of Magellan and sailing across the Pacific Ocean for months without knowing where they were or where they were going is for me an incredible feat. (Por: a30s)

The Polish correspondent's long journey across Africa.
I love reading Ryszard Kapuscinski because of his way of viewing, approaching and interpreting reality. While I don't know whether "The shadow of the sun" belongs in the journeys and travellers category it does take us across Africa and acquaints us with its people, customs and conflicts. This book has given me a greater understanding of a continent that is unknown to many people. (Por: a30s)
